Children’s Actitivies at Annual Conference

Koinonia Kids is this year’s child care experience at annual conference! Children ages infant through (completing) 5th grade are invited to join us for days filled with play and learning.

Childcare is available Wednesday noon to 6:00 PM, and Thursday through Monday from 7:30AM to 6:00 PM .

Located on the campus of University United Methodist Church, just down the road from Breslin Student Event Center, children will participate in a structured day-camp experience, including (optional) field trips to various locations on the Michigan State Campus.

Getting Registered

In order to provide a high level of care for our children, we cannot offer walk-in child care this year. You must register your child for Koinonia Kids by May 16, 2016 through the conference registration system.  Registration opens March 28. The cost is $10 per child to reserve your spot.

The safety and wellbeing of our children is paramount. All of our many volunteers and staff involved in this child care program are required to pass a background check and participate in the Detroit Annual Conference’s child abuse prevention training program. Additionally, there will be a nurse or first responder on site during all hours of operation to provide for the medical needs of our children and volunteers.

Schedule of Activities

Childcare will open an hour before the first scheduled Annual Conference event each day, and will close an hour after the afternoon sessions end.

A calendar of child care hours, field trips, and other scheduling details will be made available via email as we draw closer to June.

Parking, Meals and More

To help our parents have an easy child care experience, we offer priority parking at University UMC, with a scheduled van shuttle to/from the Breslin Student Events Center and dormitories. Parents who would like to have shuttle pick up can text for a pick up or drop off any time throughout the child care operation hours.

Lunch, snacks, and an (optional) breakfast will all be carefully prepared fresh for children enrolled in Koinonia Kids.

At registration, parents will be able to sign up to join their children for the lunch time meal. Please be certain to note on the registration any food concerns your child might have.
